About Learning
Philosophy
I believe that each child is unique and should be admired and respected. As their teachers we want to be a good role models teaching by example and being someone they look up to and trust.
Teaching involves giving children the tools to create a happy life for themselves and those around them. I believe that creating the conditions for children to get excited about learning will achieve better results than through being pushed or pressured.
Speaking
Of course, we all speak but, you can’t speak if you can’t understand. The goal ultimately is to speak and speak fluently. We need to have shorter term goals –(actions/ participation) that can help us achieve the longer-term goal (fluency/ proficiency)
My short-term goal advice is always is comprehension.
When speaking with a tutor, many times students leave the lesson feeling very good about themselves and that they were able to communicate on a variety of subjects with the tutor. Comprehension is my ongoing daily goal in my teaching and learning activities ultimately leading to better fluency and proficiency in speaking and conversation.
